The Revillagigedo Archipelago, also known as the Socorro Islands, have become one of the most popular liveaboard diving experiences in the world.
The Socorro Islands have been compared to the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador or Cocos Island in Costa Rica because of the breathtaking big animal encounters they provide.

Harry Stone is known especially for his wide-angle underwater big animal photography and the ‘Mexican Galapagos’ is among the best places on the planet to get these shots as it is famous for giant mantas, sharks of numerous species, schooling jacks, barracuda, turtles, dolphins and even humpback whales at some points of the season.
As well as your chance to dive several times a day, Harry will be in the water with you to assist with your photography and diving in addition to running workshops during topside sessions. Subjects will include composition in open water photography, animal behaviour for photographers, lighting, settings, dive techniques, image processing in the digital darkroom, equipment, as well as a plethora of other tips and advice.
They are structured so you can begin to apply them to your dives straight away.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned shooter, and no matter what equipment you are using, there will be something for everyone during these relaxed and informative sessions. We will also give you the chance to contribute your own images for supportive critique where we can learn from each other and gauge progress throughout the trip, culminating in an optional competition.
Special pre-trip extras will be included for you to practise before you arrive.
Harry will be working hard to ensure you leave with a collection of photos you are proud of from your time in the water as well as new skills and knowledge you can take away with you.

Buoyancy and finning
Responsible diving for animals and the environment
Animal behaviour, interaction and approaching big animal subjects
Equipment and maintenance (including proper trimming)
Camera settings, including JPEG vs RAW
Composition
Lighting for wide angle/big animals, including light and color theory underwater, ambient lighting, artificial lighting (strobes and constant lights)
Light placement for coverage and texture
Avoiding backscatter
Creative and artistic styles
‘In camera’ special effects such as black and white, motion blur, silhouettes and dragging the shutter
Image processing workflow
Processing underwater images in the digital darkroom
